Holiday Tree Lighting
The annual holiday tree lighting ceremony sponsored by the Dells Country Historical Society will be held Saturday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m. here behind the library. Activities include carols led by members of the high school choir and holiday readings by members of the high school forensic team. Santa Claus will make an appearance toward the end of the program. Bring your family and join other members of the community in welcoming in the holiday season. Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable item for the food pantry.
Literacy Council Book Drive
The Wisconsin Dells Literacy Council needs your help to make the holidays a little more special for area children. Donate your new or gently used children’s books and the Literacy Council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society will distribute the books to needy children in the area. Books can be dropped off here at the library or at Book World in Wisconsin Dells anytime on or before December 14. What a great way to share the holiday spirit and give the gift of reading to children! The literacy council is a great organization that provides a tremendous service to the community. Besides their annual book drive, the literacy council also provides tutoring for area adults who need help with reading or English as a second language, supports the library with literacy materials, supports tutors and students and provides a language learning lab here at the library. Currently the literacy council is looking for new members to act as tutors or to serve on the board. Call the library if you are interested. We will let you know how you can join and make a difference in someone’s life and a difference in the community.
