Super Summer Saturdays

Saturday, July 11 we have a very special event planned for all you wanna-be actors and actresses.  Johanna Gorman-Baer will be presenting a Theatre Games Workshop at the Lake Delton School beginning at 10 a.m.  Improvisation, good humor and camaraderie are the key ingredients to these workshops.  Johanna is known as a shenanigan starter and drama enthusiast so count on lots of laughs and fun.  This workshop is for all school-age children including young adults.

Saturday, July 18 is movie day at the library.  Join us at 10 a.m. for the new DVD release Inkheart.  Based on the best-selling book by Cornelia Funke, Inkheart is a fantasy adventure that sends a father and daughter on a quest through worlds both real and imagined.  Father and daughter share a passion for books and also an extraordinary gift for bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud. Don’t miss this great family movie. Join us for popcorn and a movie.

Saturday, July 25 from 10 am—1 pm is our craft Saturday.  Join Kris for an exciting painting opportunity.  You have painted on paper, on canvas, and even on fabric.  But have you ever painted on rocks?  Create your own special design here at the library!  All supplies will be provided from 10 am—1 pm.  This activity is for people of all ages and artistic abilities—just bring your imagination and be ready for a craft that totally rocks!

Summer Blessings

Can You Keep a Secret

The Kilbourn Public Library book club selection for July is Anna Quindlen’s Blessings.  This novel  begins late one evening when a baby is left at the estate of Lydia Blessing.  The caretaker of the estate decides he wants to keep the child and Lydia agrees to help him.  According to the novel’s dust jacket this book explores how the secrets of the past affect decisions and lives in the present.  This is a powerful novel of love, redemption and personal change.  The book club will be meeting to discuss this book on Monday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion.  If you can’t make the meetings at the library feel free to share in the discussion online by posting to the book club blog.  The book club blog can be accessed through the library website at www.dellslibrary.org.
