A Message from the Board
The Kilbourn Public Library Board of Trustees met in October and reluctantly accepted the resignation of Glenn Deedon from the board. Glenn has been a valued and innovative member of the board since 1994. He served as fundraising chair for the building of this library and recently he was the driving force behind the acquisition of our bookmobile. Thanks go out to Glenn for his many years of service.
Elections were held at the board meeting and Bill Brown is your library board president, Gisela Hamm is vice president, Debbie Kinder is secretary and Teresa Regel is treasurer. Other board members include Dianne Effinger and Jan Woodruff.
Committee members will begin work on a long range plan. Among ideas to be discussed will be an expansion to the library, technology needs and library services and programming.
The library board meets the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 here at the library.

Library Book Club
This month the library book club is reading a book from an author Publishers Weekly calls a “master storyteller and a daring writer” who gives his readers bright hope in a dark world. Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz is a suspense filled, humorous story that follows the life of Jimmy Tock. Jimmy’s grandfather died the day Jimmy was born and in his grandfather’s last lucid minutes he predicted five future dates that would be difficult for Jimmy. This novel pits good against evil and exemplifies the power of love and family. Join us this month in reading this original and unusual novel. The book club meets the 4th Monday and Wednesday of each month. New members are always welcome. We will be meeting Monday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 29 at 1:30 p.m.
Computer Classes
The library will be offering several sessions of free computer classes beginning in October. Topics will include computer basics, search engines, internet basics, Ebay, email and computer troubleshooting. Call Jess at the library for more information and to sign up for these classes.
Important Future Dates
The library and bookmobile will be closed the week of November 10 - 15 for our annual inventory. Due to software conflicts there will be no checkouts, including hold pickups during this period. No items will be due during this week. Please plan accordingly.
The library and the bookmobile will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for Thanksgiving.
