Book Club News

Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood
The Library Readers Book Club selection for July is Canadian author Margaret Atwood’s prize-winning novel Alias Grace, based on real-life character, Grace Marks, who at age fifteen was sentenced to death for her part in the murder of her employer and his mistress.  Although her sentence was changed to life imprisonment, many thought that she should have died on the gallows along with her co-conspirator. Thus, Grace Marks became a "celebrated murderess" and an infamous enigma of the nineteenth century.  Offering no simple solutions to this ongoing mystery, Atwood’s prose will have readers laughing one minute and weeping the next.  Extra copies are available at the library. Pick one up and prepare to join the Readers Club to share reactions to this intriguing work.

Everyone is invited to join us at the library for treats and a great discussion either on Monday July 26 at 6:30  or Wednesday July 28 at 1:30. Who knows? Maybe we will solve the mystery of Grace Marks!

Bookmobile Adds WiFi

The Bookmobile is now a WiFi hotspot. Five people at a time can log onto the internet with their own wireless-enabled computers using the Bookmobile’s signal. Patrons must be within 50 feet of the Bookmobile.

Another popular library service being added to the Bookmobile will be make-and-take crafts. Children visiting the bookmobile will not only find books, but also a make and take craft, coloring sheets or a library activity.
