What do we offer?

First, check our online catalog. Materials from within our South Central Library System can be ordered and delivered to your library. If you can't locate items in our online catalog, check with library staff and we will check outside our library system to see if we can order it for you.

Books: Bestsellers, books cited in the latest news and TV shows, fiction, non-fiction, adult paperbacks, children’s fiction, children's non-fiction, young adult books, young adult paperbacks, reference books, large print books, books on local history, early literacy materials, and a substantial collection of Polish books.

Audio Books: Books on CD. These are the perfect companion while you are driving your car, or relaxing at home. We also offer Playaways, which are preloaded digital audio books and books on MP3 discs.

Movies: The latest releases on DVD and older or hard to find DVDs.

Magazines: We carry the same popular magazines you will find in your local supermarket or bookstore.

Newspapers: Dells Events, Wisconsin State Journal, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Baraboo New Republic, Portage Daily Register, Adams-Friendship Times Reporter, Barron's, Catholic Herald (Diocese of Madison), The New York Time Book Review, Shopper Stopper, Advantage Advertiser.

Technology Center:  Currently we have 20 Internet-ready computers for patron use.  All of these same computers feature programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.  Please note computer use is limited to 60 minutes per day with additional time available upon request if spaces are available.  Yes, WiFi is available for our laptop-toting patrons.

Language Learning Lab: We offer four computers equipped with Rosetta Stone (for learning English as a second language),Toefl, (the most widely accepted English-language test in the world), and Lexia, (Adult Basic Education; remediates difficulties in struggling readers and English language learners).

Microfilm Reader/ Microfilm:  We carry microfilm from our local Wisconsin Dells newspaper (and the name has changed over the years: Wisconsin Mirror, Kilbourn City Guard, Mirror Gazette, Kilbourn Weekly Events, Dells Events). We carry microfilm from February 14,1856 through December 2013. If you are traveling to our library to do historical research on our Microfilm reader, it is worth your time to call the library and verify that the microfilm from the time frame you are interested in is in the library.
