On Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. we will be presenting our second speaker in our local history speaker series. Troy Reeves, from the UW-Madison Archives, will be giving his talk "What is Oral History? Why Does it Matter?" Oral history is the use of historical information by using interviews with people who have knowledge of historical events. It is important because it can provide a unique perspective to history that other sources cannot. Troy is the head of the oral history program at the UW-Madison Archives and has directed oral history programs since 1999. He also serves as the managing editor of the Oral History Review and is on the board of the Wisconsin Humanities Council. This speaker series has been brought to you by the Kilbourn Public Library and the Dells Country Historical Society who have teamed up with the UW-Madison Speakers Bureau to bring in great faculty to discuss local history.
